The champion XP line is the sweetspot for Dobyns. There are some higher end and some lower end in the company. I have some of the highest end they make, love them. Factoring price and function, the Champion XP is a high end rod that is moderately priced. These are very good rods. I compare them to St. Croix legend tournament rods.
The 704cb, in particular for jerkbaits, is really a nice rod to fish. It has been amazing and I will get another to avoid re-tying when using flukes and jerkbaits. Light weight, great feel, very good sensitivity, and like all Dobyns...will pin a fish. Let the rod do the work.
