This is the second 8-foot St. Croix Premier Musky spinning rod that I've purchased from ALFO. Their price was $15 less than everywhere else, they didn't charge me extra for the shipping tube, I got free freight and they shipped the rod the next day. You simply can't beat that.
I didn't purchase these rods for musky fishing, but for casting from shore for striped bass in the Delaware River. Because the fish can run anywhere from (2-40) LBS, I found myself way "over-gunned" when I was using my saltwater spinning tackle and only catching small "schoolies". This sent me on a quest for the perfect "striper rod". The first St. Croix Premier Musky rod was a "Heavy Power". It's a beautiful rod, but I found the tip to be a bit too stiff, even when casting 3 OZ sinkers. That drove me to order a second, in a "Medium-Heavy Power".
I just wish that St. Croix would offer 2-piece versions of the Premier Musky spinning rods. They offer 2-piece versions in their Musky casting rods, but for some reason didn't carry it through the entire series.
